Recognition of credits and examinations from Czech language and Latin in the General Medicine and Dentistry programmes

1. Credits and examinations in Czech language may be recognised on the basis of proof of having passed the A levels in Czech language. Applications are accepted by the relevant teacher.
2.    Credits and examinations may be recognised on the basis of examinations in Czech language/Latin at other medical faculties, provided that the scope and content of these courses corresponds to the scope and content of these courses. Assessed by the study department (applications via STAG).
3.    If you have already taken the courses in question at our faculty, you can apply for recognition via STAG (usually tfulfilled attendance and a grade A - D is required).
4.    In all other cases (e.g., if you have taken Czech courses at other institutions), the instructor may decide to waive the required attendance for the course, but you must complete the credit and pass the exam. You may also take the credit test at the beginning of the semester (either at your request or at the request of the instructor) in order to decide whether or not attendance may be waived. If you write the test successfully, the credit will be awarded.
5.    In all cases, the deadlines for fulfilling the study obligations and the sequence of taking the credits and exams must be observed.
6.    All requests for credit and examination recognition must be made in writing only (electronically via STAG or by email to the teacher responsible).

REMINDER

This is to remind the students that winter semester Czech language seminars (Czech I - CJA/VAA41, Czech II - CJA/VAA42, Czech III - CJA/VAA43, Czech 1 - CJA/ZAA41 and Czech 2 - CJA/ZAA42) are prerequisite courses for summer semester Czech language seminars. According to the Directive of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of Palacký University to Implement the Study and Examination Code of Palacký University (Artícle 6, paragraph 3), students are obliged to complete the prerequisite subject first, no matter what the form of completion of the course is.

Thus, General Medicine and Dentistry students who will not be granted winter semester Czech language credits as of February 9, 2025, may ask Mgr. Veronika Glogarová, the head of the Department of Foreign Languages, for a permission to complete their winter semester Czech after that date. The request has to be sent by an email (veronika.glogarova@upol.cz) stating the reasons for which the credit requirements could not be fulfilled during the winter semester teaching and examination periods. Please mind that spending (a part of) the examination period abroad will not be considered a relevant reason.

The head of the department will reply by sending an email within 2 weeks after receiving the request.

Additionally, the summer semester (February 10 - May 23) is primarily intended for seminars, consultations, etc. and winter semester credit test dates may not be offered until May 26, that is, the beginning of the examination period (which ends on June 30, 2025). Also, the Dean's directive, in its Article 9, paragraph 1, states that when completing a multi-semester course with course credit, the proper sequence of the courses must be followed. Students are obliged to complete classes and acquire credit from the previous semester first. Since Czech is considered a multi-semester course, students will not be allowed to sit for the summer (final) Czech credit test and/or oral examination unless they have been granted their winter semester credit.
